a-england: The Legend swatches

Good afternoon ladies! Today I'm super excited of the fact I forgot to write and schedule a blog post yesterday. And why is this..? I received some awesome nail mail! I'm sure most of you guys have heard of a-england by now so I won't be doing a longer prologue about the brand and gorgeous, amazing Adina behind it all. I'll keep the intro short and give a heads up to my Finnish readers instead that might be a bit unfamiliar of the brand. :) When I saw the promotional swatches The Legend and noticed we were talking about holos, I didn't hesitate a second. When Adina released the collection for preorder, I did something I have never done before, I ordered 6/7 of the polishes beforehand and now I have them in my hands!

Moikka tyttöset! Oon super onnellinen, että unohdin eilen kirjoittaa ja ajastaa postauksen valmiiksi. Miksi? Koska sain tänään aivan upeeta kynsipostia! Monet ulkomaalaiset bloggarit ovat kuulleet jo merkistä nimeltä a-england, joka on jäänyt aika vähälle huomiolle suomalaisessa kynsiblogi-skenessä. a-england on vuonna 2011 perustettu yritys, jonka takana on yksi power woman nimeltä Adina Bodana. Adina on italialaissyntyinen suunnittelija, joka elää ja vaikuttaa nykyään Englannissa. Adina on työskennellyt muun muassa Gianni Versacelle. Viime vuonna Adina julkaisi ensimmäisen kynsilakkakokoelman nimeltä The Mythicals, jonka perustana on englantilaiset myytit ja tarut. 

Noin kuukausi takaperin Adina julkaisi tiedon toisesta kokoelmasta nimeltä "The Legend". Nähtyäni promoswatchit, mulla ei ollut muuta vaihtoehtoa kuin hypätä niin monen tavoin a-englandin vietäväksi ja kun Adina twitterissä ilmoitti ennakkomyynnin alkaneen, mulla ei ollut muuta vaihtoehtoa kuin tilata 6/7 kokoelman lakoista, joka on ensimmäinen kerta koskaan, kun ennakkotilaan kynsilakkoja. Miksi? Koska nämä lakat ovat kaikki hologrameja!

Princess Tears, Ascalon, Bridal Veil, Princess Sabra, Dragon, Saint George

Aren't they all looking absolutely die for?! Adina seriously has done something amazing with th is collection. She gave the nail blogging scene something most of the bloggers have been whining about for a long time: 6 amazing holos. Without further do, let's move on to the swatches! 

Eivätkö ole aivan upeita?! Adina todellakin teki jotain uskomatonta tämän kokoelman kanssa ja antoi monelle kynsibloggaajalle sitä, mitä tässä on viime aikoina odoteltu: 6 aivan uskomatonta holoa! Sen suuremmitta puheitta, siirrytään swatcheihin.

All swatches have been taking in the light box, in direct 4000 Kelvin natural light which mimics daylight quite perfectly. I applied these on my normal go-to basecoat and I didn't use topcoat.

Kaikki swatchit ovat otettu lightboxissa, suorassa 4000 Kelvinin luonnollisessa valossa, joka imitoi aika täydellisesti luonnon valoa. Kaikki swatchit on tehty mun lemppari basecoatin päälle, en käyttänyt päällyslakkaa lainkaan.

Saint George

Saint George - 1 coat

Saint George is a gorgeous, dark teal holographic. This shade is almost blue in my eyes but there is a visible green tint in it, at least to my eyes and I could stare at the bottle for hours. The holographic particles are absolutely gorgeously strong in the bottle but unfortunately I wasn't able to catch it perfectly on my nails but it's definitely there! The formula in this one is ridiculously smooth and easy to handle, I was able to get full coverage with just one careful coat!

Saint George on aivan mahtava, tumma turkoosi. Tämä on kynsillä melkein sininen, mutta mun silmiin tämä näyttää kumminkin selvästi vihreältä ollen juuri sellainen väri, jota voisin tuijottaa tuntikausia. Hologrammihiput ovat upean selkeät pullossa, mutta valitettavasti mä en saanut ikuistettua sitä kynsikuvaan. Hologrammi kuitenkin löytyy kynsistäkin. Koostumukseltaan tämä on uskomattoman sileä ja helposti levittyvä, rauhallisesti ja huolella lakkaamalla sain tämän peittämään yhdellä kerroksella.

Dragon

Dragon - 2 coats

Dragon is a beautiful, warm forest green with yellow undertones. The forest-like feeling of this really is strengthened when applied on to the nails. The holographic particles seem to be just as strong as in Saint George, even in the light I have available, here you can see how Saint George was supposed to look like! I adore this shade a lot though it seems to apply darker on the nails than it looks like on the bottle. The polish does have some possibilities of being opaque on first coat if you apply correct amount of it but as I prefer thin coats, I needed two for full opacity.

Dragon on ihana, lämmin metsänvihreä, jossa selkeästi erottuu keltaisen sävy. Metsäisyys korostuu upeasti kynsillä. Tässä kynsikuvassa holo tuli aivan upeasti näkyviin, lähes yhtä voimakas holo on myös tuossa edellisessä Saint Georgessa! Rakastan tätä sävyä, vaikkakin tämä tuntuu olevan kynsillä huomattavasti tummempi mitä pullossa. Tällä lakalla on myös kaikki ominaisuudet peittää yhdellä kerroksella, jos siveltimeen tulee sopivasti lakkaa. Itse tykkään enemmän ohuista kerroksista, jonka tiimoilta tarvitsin kaksi kerrosta sopivaan peittävyyteen.

Princess Sabra (Tristam Eyes)

Princess Sabra (Tristam Eyes) - 2 coats

Princess Sabra (Tristam Eyes) is holographic beauty I'd love to call as topaz or amber, mostly light amber. However, there is some green undertones in this one as well, at least it looked like that on the 1st coat.. so I really don't know what should I call it. Never the less, the shade is breathtaking! As the polish is on the lighter shade rather than dark, I felt like I wanted to do three coats but I managed to get away with two.

Princess Sabra (Tristam Eyes) on ihanuus, jota haluaisin kutsua topaasin tai meripihkan väriseksi, lähinnä haaleaksi meripihkaksi. Tässä lakassa on kuitenkin vihreitä pohjasävyjä, joten oon hieman kahden vaiheilla miksi tätä kutsuisin... Joka tapauksessa, tämä on sävynä henkeäsalpaavan kaunis. Koska tämä lakka on enemmän vaalea kuin tumma valoisuusasteeltaan, mun teki kovasti mieli lisätä kolmaskin kerros. Jätin kuitenkin kahteen kerrokseen.

Princess Tears

Princess Tears - 2 coats

Princess Tears is a shade I can't properly describe, it's lilacy mauve with some grey in it. As a holo, it's not as vivid as the three colors before it but without a doubt, a beautiful holo shade. The holographic effect seems to be a bit more obvious in the bottle but it's quite noticable on the nail as well, I was surprised to see how beautifully my camera caught it even though my eyes couldn't see it at first! And can you see that duochrome like flash of color in this? Formula wise this polish is lovely. It glides on with ease, without any patching which I'm used to having with shades similar to this. Two coats was enough to got this opaque.

Princess Tears on sävy, mitä en todellakaan osaa kuvata. Lilahtava mauve, jossa on häivähdys harmaata? Holona tämä ei ole ehkä niin silmäänpistävä kuin kolme edellistä, mutta holoa löytyy kyllä ja sävy on kaunis. Yllätykseksi kamera kuvasi holon kauniisti, vaikka se ei paljaalla silmällä niin selkeä ollutkaan. Ja katsokaa tuota duochromen omaista häivähdystä! Koostumukseltaan tämä oli loistava, lakka liukuu kynnelle kauniisti eikä jätä läiskiä, mihin oon tottunut tämän sävyisten lakkojen kanssa. Vaaleudestaan huolimatta kaksi kerrosta oli tarpeeksi peittävään lopputulokseen.

Ascalon

Ascalon - 2 coats

Ascalon is a deep, medium grey that leans a bit on the warmer side. The shade is beautiful and strongly holographic in the bottle which translates beautifully on the nails. Ascalon has the perks of a darker shade and I got it almost opaque on 1st coat which might be enough on shorter nails. I did apply a 2nd one to get the most out of this beautiful polish. See how it has the same purple flash in it as Princess Tears? Sooo pretty!

Ascalon on tumma, keskiharmaa, joka on ennemmin lämmin kuin kylmä harmaa. Lakka on kaunis ja voimakkaan holo pullossa, joka toistuu täydellisesti kynsille. Tummille lakoille ominaisesti tämä oli lähes täydellinen jo yhdellä kerroksella, mutta lisäsin toisen kerroksen, jotta lakan syvyys tulisi oikeuksiinsa. Ja katsokaa, tässä on sama violettinen hohde mikä löytyy myös Princess Tearsista. Kaunis, ihana, voih!

Bridal Veil

Bridal Veil - 1 coat

Bridal Veil is a dark charcoal that looks almost black in the bottle. Just like Ascalon, I like to think it's on the warmer side as well. To be honest with you, I didn't feel this color at all when I looked at the bottle but when the brush touched my nail for the first time, I fell in love and I'm not joking. I was quite surprised with this one as well as my camera decided to see the holo which wasn't so clear to me in person. As you can see, this one truly has the holo in it as well! I don't know what is it in this polish but it glided on like butter and what you are looking is one careful coat.

Bridal Veil on kaunis, tumma harmaa joka näyttää pullossa lähes mustalle. Ascalonin tavoin näen tämän lämpimänä mustana, en niinkään kylmänä. Ja jos totta puhutaan, mun mielestä tämä lakka ei todellakaan näyttänyt erikoiselle pullossa, mutta heti kun sivellin kosketti kyttä, rakastuin ja en todellakaan huijaa. Positiivinen yllätys oli, että kamera suostui jälleen yhteistyöhön ja löysi tästä holon, joka ei ole kovinkaan selvä paljaalla silmällä katsottuna. En tiiä mikä tässä lakassa on niin ihmeellistä, mutta tämän levitys oli kuin leivälle olisi sulaa voita laittanut. Yksi kerros riitti tähän kuvaan täydellisesti.

Final thoughts: Adina has truly done something amazing with this collection, the colors are absolutely amazing! I truly adore every single one of these and my honest opinion is they are totally worth £9 a pop. The formula in these polishes is great as well as the opacity, I love the fact that one doesn't need fancy aqua bases for these polishes, which is a huge plus in my books. It might sound like I'm brown-nosing here but I'm not, I honestly can't figure out anything bad to say about this collection, the brand or Adina. I will treasure these polishes without a doubt. Loppuajatukset: Adina on todella tehnyt jotain mahtavaa tämän kokoelman myötä, nämä sävyt ovat aivan mahtavia! Rakastan jokaista hankkimaani lakkaa ja nämä todella ovat 9 punnan arvoisia. Lakkojen koostumus ja peittävyys on loistava ja parasta on, ettei näille lakoille tarvitse ostaa mitään erikoisaluslakkaa, vaan normaalit aluslakat soveltuvat hyvin. Tämä kehuminen kuulostaa varmaan oudolle, mutta mulla ei kerta kaikkiaan ole mitään pahaa sanottavaa näistä lakoista, merkistä eikä Adinasta.
