Top10 of 2011

Good morning lovelies! Today I have you the last post of this year, also known as my top10 picks for this year. These are the polishes I hold dear. 2011 brought a lot of new babies home to me but this was surprisingly easy post to do. I hope you enjoy of this post as much as I enjoyed going through my stash and picking up my favorites! I tried my best to make this post out of the polishes that came out this year and I managed to do that quite well, only one of the polishes came out 2010. I hope you enjoy of this post as much as I enjoyed going through my stash and picking up my favorites! :)

Huomenta! Tänään on vuorossa vuoden viimeinen postaus. Nimensä mukaan listasin 10 tämän vuoden lakkasuosikkiani. Tänä vuonna kokoelmiini päätyi ennätysmäärä lakkoja, mutta valinta oli siitäkin huolimatta yllättävän helppo tehdä. Pyrin valitsemaan listalle ainoastaan vuonna 2011 ilmestyneitä lakkoja ja onnistuinkin siinä varsin hyvin, ainoastaan yksi lakka ilmestyi vuonna 2010. Toivottavasti nautitte tästä postauksesta yhtä paljon kuin minä! :)

Skull & Glossbones - Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Collection, summer 2011

Three coats.

Now this polish holds a special meaning as it is the first OPI polish I bought. Some of you might know that I'm a huge fan of POTC and Johnny Depp (fangirling started at the tender age of 6), so I was super excited of the collection but it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment for me. However, this polish stole my heart and I was super happy to find it from the sale and bring it home with me.

Tällä lakalla on minulle omalaatuinen merkitys, sillä se oli ensimmäinen OPI lakka jonka ostin. Jotkut teistä taitavatkin tietää, että olen järjetön POTC/Johnny Depp -fani, fanitus alkoi jo 6-vuotiaana. Tästä johtuen olin järjettömän innostunut OPIn kokoelmasta, josta muodostuikin aikamoinen pettymys. Tämä lakka oli ainoa, joka todella varasti mun sydämen ja olinkin onnellista tyttöä, kun löysin tämän ale-laarista ja saatoin tuoda tämän mukanani kotiin.

Snowglobe - Let It Snow Collection, winter 2011

One coat over bare nails.

This is one of my favorite glitters, for sure. It's nothing like the ones I have and it looks gorgeous over many colors.

Tässä on yksi minun lempiglittereistäni tällä hetkellä. Snowglobe on uniikki tapaus, jollaisia minulla ei ollut lakkakokoelmassa yhtään. Tämä lakka näyttää niin kauniille yksinään ja vielä kauniimmalle kerrostettuna muiden lakkojen päälle.

Pinky Brown -  Beetlejuice Collection, fall 2011

Three coats.

When Beetlejuice collection was announced, I was super excited, once again. I ordered three of these polishes and this was the only one I actually fell in love in this collection. I love the glass flecked finish, the duochrome and absolutely everything! As the collex disappointed me so badly, I never published any swatches of the polishes I got. The remaining two already got a new home.

Kun kyseinen kokoelma julkaistiin, olin ihan pähkinöinä. Tilasin kolme lakkaa ja tämä oli niistä ainoa johon ihastuin. Rakastan glass-flecked lakkoja, duochromea ja kaikkea jota tässä on. Koska kokoelma oli pettymys, en halunnut edes julkaista swatcheja. Kaksi muuta kokoelman lakkaa ovatkin jo löytäneet uuden kodin.

Spark - Prism Collection, spring 2010

Three coats.

This is where I cheat a little as this is a polish that wasn't launched this year. In fact this is almost two years old but I received it only a while ago. This polish totally surprised me when I saw it on the nails and I just couldn't resist the temptation to add it on this list. I love the color, I love the subtle holographic shine. What do you think, is it worth it? I think it is!

Tässä kohdassa huijaan, tämä on ainoa lakka, joka ei ole julkaistu tänä vuonna. Tää on itseasiassa melkein kaksi vuotta vanha, mutta itse sain tämän vasta pari viikkoa sitten. Tämä lakka yllätti minut täysin kun näin sen kynsillä, sen vuoksi en voinut muuta kuin lisätä tämän tälle listalle. Aivan ihana, himmeän pehmeä hologrammilakka.

Jingle Jangle - Beyond The Mistletoe Collection, winter 2011

Three coats.

My 2nd favorite of the Color Club's collection. The color is so intense and lovely. If it was an option, I would've listed Jingle Jangle over Cold Metal as one of my favorites... But as that would be cheating, I just chose this. ;)

Mun toinen suosikki tästä Color Clubin kokoelmasta. Rakastan tämän glitterin värejä, voimakkuutta ja kaikkea. Jos olisi mahdollista, olisin listannut suosikiksi Jingle Janglen kerrostettuna Cold Metalin päälle... Mutta sehän olisi ollut huijaamista ja minähän en sellaista tee. ;)

Blue Year's Eve - Let It Snow Collection, winter 2011

Three coats.

During this year I have fallen in love with glass-flecked finishes even though this post only has two of them. Blue Year's Eve definitely deserves its place on this list.

Kuten mainitsin jo aiemmin, rakastuin tänä vuonna glass-flecked lakkoihin vaikka tässä postauksessa niitä olikin vain kaksi. Tää lakka nyt vaan ansaitsee paikkansa tällä listalla koska se on täydellinen. Sydän.

Sugarplum Fairy - Beyond The Mistletoe Collection, winter 2011

Three coats.

This might not be the most durable polish... But it's definitely one of my favorite glitters! I love the holographic, silver and lavender glitter together! Two things I love in one package? Yes please.

Tää ei ole ehkä se kestävin lakka... Mutta se on ehdottomasti mun suosikki glittereitä.  Se on laventeli, se on hopea, se on hologrammi... Kaikki mitä rakastan yhdessä pullossa.

Skyscraper - Metro Collection Collection, fall 2011

Three coats.

This one didn't fit into my order which I made of the Metro collection. I came to conclusion I wouldn't need it at all... Yet I soon found myself ordering it. This is such a gorgeous color and I haven't used enough.

Tämä lakka ei mahtunut mukaan tilaukseen, jonka tein Metro-kokoelmasta. Ajattelin silloin, etten sitä tarvitsisi... Jotenkin vaan huomasin miettiväni kyseistä lakkaa paljon ja katuvani, etten sitä ostanut. Ei siis ollut ihme, että tämä lakka päätyi seuraavaan tilaukseen. Aivan ihana musteen sininen glitteri, jota en ole käyttänyt läheskään tarpeeksi.

Lorelei's Tiara - Eyecandy Collection, winter 2011

Two coats.

This polish was my 2nd favorite of the Eyecandy collection and I knew when I saw the promo pictures that I'd have to get it. I did and I don't regret. This polish to me is fairly unique and beautiful in all kind of ways. Not to mention I love how it covers almost 100% with just two coats, though I managed to achieve some glitter dragging as I was swatching in a hurry.

Tää oli mun toka suosikki ko. kokoelmasta ja tiesin jo promokuvien perusteella, että tää olisi pakko saada enkä kadu yhtään. Tää on mulle ihanan omalaatuinen ja kaunis kaikilla mahdollisilla tavoilla. Toinen painava syy on, että tämä lakka peittää lähes täydellisesti kahdella kerroksella, mutta tässä kuvassa on näkyvillä hieman glitterin vetäytymistä, koska mulla oli aika kova kiire päällä, kun lakkasin näitä swatcheja teille.

Some Like It Haute - Eyecandy Collection, winter 2011

Two coats.

This polish doesn't need any introductions. I fell in love with the polish when I saw it and it became special to me when I participated a contest hosted by a person I already consider as one of my closest nail blogger friends. I used this polish as a part of the manicure and won. It definitely is my favorite polish of 2011.

Tämä kaunokainen ei juuri esittelyjä kaipaa. Rakastuin tähän lakkaan, kun näin sen ja tästä tuli yksi rakkaimmista, kun osallistuin kisaan jonka piti ihminen, jonka miellän jo nyt yhdeksi läheisimmiksi ihmisiksi kynsiblogi-maailmassa. Muistatte kai kun käytin tätä lakkaa lakkauksessa ja jopa voitin. Tämä on ehdottomasti rakkain ja suosikki vuodelta 2011!

Red Angel image plates

Good morning everyone! Today I have you guys a video post. Once again, this video is in Finnish but I have used captions in Youtube to subtitle the essential of my babbling in English. I payed $15.99 just for the shipping but I do think they are worth it, shipping took only a week. Also if you get these, be sure to count the plates you receive! Xmas Haul!

Good morning! Today's blog post is just a quick post of my December haul. The reason why I haven't showed these to you guys before is that I wanted to have these untouched till Christmas. :) I bought a lot of stuff for myself as presents During this week I will be going into details with these presents, especially one of them! Huomenta! Tämänpäiväinen blogipostaus on nopea esittely joulukuun ostoksista. Syy, miksi en ole näyttänyt näitä aiemmin on se, että halusin "lahjoa" itseni vasta jouluna. Walking in the winter wonderland...

Good morning! Today I'm showing you guys nails inspired by a christmas/winter song. Obviously, it is "walking in the winter wonderland". As I had only a few polishes left to use from the Let it Snow collection, I went for the not-so-obvious color, Tinsel Town. I spent a while figuring out what I'd do with this polish and then ended up sponging it, like I quite often do. I'm keeping this post short as I'm quite busy at work, writing these late in the evening when I get home. Hope you guys understand!

Huomenta! Tänään näytän teille kynnet, joiden inspiraationa toimi "Talven ihmemaa" laulu. Koska minulla oli vain muutama lakka jäljellä, valitsin sen vaikeimman ja ei-niin-ilmiselvän lakan.Meni hetki ennen kuin keksin mitä tekisin tälle lakalle ja päädyin lopulta töpöttelemään siihen valkoista lumeksi. Liukuvärjäykset ja töpöttely on ollut niin mun juttu viime aikoina. Tää postaus jää näin lyhkäiseksi, koska kirjoitan nämä aina illalla valmiiksi, kun kotiudun töistä. Toivottavasti ymmärrätte vähemmälläkin sepustuksella!

I started with two coats of "Tinsel Town", then sponged "Snow White" here and there to create the vibe of a "snowy forest". After the polish was dry, I stamped on the trees from BM-205 and with a small brush placed some "Snowglobe" on the trees to for the frostiness. A coat of SV and it was all done!

Aloitin kahdella kerroksella Tinsel Townia ja töpöttelin valkoista sinne tänne, jotta tulisi vaikutelma lumisesta metsästä. Leimasin puut laatasta BM-205 ja lisäsin pienellä siveltimellä Snowglobea kuusien sisälle, jotta se näyttäisi pakkashileille. :)

Itse en ole täysin tyytyväinen lakkaukseen, joten mitä mieltä olette, menikö syteen vai saveen? Kertokaa toki mielipiteitä!

Christmas baubles

Good morning! Today I'm showing you guys a green manicure, yay! Somehow green has slowly built up to be my favorite color. Even though I love purple more, I have somehow ended up buying more green polishes. In this manicure I also found probably my favorite two polishes to be layered on top of each other! But without further do, let's move on.

Huomenta! Tänään vuorossa onkin vihreä lakkaus! Jotenkin vihreästä on tullut viime aikoina mun suosikkiväri. Rakastan edelleen enemmän violettisia sävyjä, mutta jotenkin ostoskoriin on päätynyt enemmän ja enemmän vihreitä lakkoja. Tässä lakkauksessa löysin myös kaksi ihanuutta, jotka kerrostettuna muodostaa ehkä upeimman kokonaisuuden ikinä! 

When Models Own's Beetlejuice Collection was launched, I fell in love with "Pinky Brown". It was a huge disappointment for me to see that the other polishes of the collections were not able to deliver what I expected from them. With Pinky Brown in my mind, I went wild trying to make my own Golden Green with the epicness that Pinky Brown was. When I received Glittering Garland, I knew it was one part of MY GG goes PB polish. I went for a survey in my Helmer and played around with Lighthouse from China Glaze's "Anchors Away!" collection. I thought I didn't have anything to lose and I added a coat of that on top of GG and KABOOM! Miracle happened! I mean... It's so goddamn gorgeous! The effect was pretty much what I wanted Models Own's "Golden Green" to be. Here's a shot of that!

Kun Models Ownin Beetlejuice-kokoelma julkaistiin, rakastuin yli kaiken Pinky Browniin. Oli järjetön pettymys huomata, etteivät muut kokoelman lakat pystyneet samaan. Koska ihastuin yli kaiken PB:hen, päätin kokeilla tehdä vastaavanlaista lakkaa, joka olisi Golden Green potenssiin sata. Kun sain Glittering Garlandin käsiinni, tiesin että se olisi osa mun PB:stä tulee GG -projektia. Pemmastin vähän aikaa kynsilakkakokoelman parissa ja leikittelin Lighthousella, joka tuli China Glazen "Anchors Away" kokoelmassa viime ekväänä. Päätin, ettei mulla ole mitään menetettävää ja kerrostin Lighthousen GG:n päälle. IHME! Yhdistelmä oli aivan liian upea. Lakka myös antoi saman vaikutelman, mitä PB ja oli tismalleen sitä, jota halusin GG:n olevan. Tässäpä kuva kerrostuksesta!

I started doing these nails with the layering success in mind, so I started the manicure with two coats of GG and sponged Lighthouse gently on the tips. Then stamps with Hi-Tek and Millennium, and few dots here and there and the manicure was ready. The decorations might not be dead-on but hey... At least the layering looked awesome! Feel free to enlarge the photo and check out my pinky for some beautiful duochrome!

Aloitin nämä kynnet onnistunut kerrostaminen mielessä, joten lakkasin kaksi kerrosta GG:tä kynnelle ja töpöttelin Lighthousea kynsien kärkiin. Stamppaukseen käytin Hi-Tekiä ja Millenniumia ja lisäsin muutamat pallot dotting toolilla ja homma oli valmis. Koristelut eivät ehkä onnistuneet täysin sataprosenttisesti, mutta ainakin kerrostus näytti kauniille! Suurentakaa ihmeessä allaoleva kuva ja kiinnittäkää huomio pikkusormen duochrome-fiilikseen!

Oletko koskaan yrittänyt tuunata lakkaa tai tehnyt täysin oman versiosi jostain lakasta, jossa jonkin on mennyt pieleen? Kertokaahan kokemuksia!

Blue year's eve

Good morning! Today I have you blue Christmas nails. It's getting quite tricky to do the remaining manicures with the colors I haven't yet used. I'm not sure if this is very christmasy, but at least it's wintery if nothing else! 

Huomenta! Tänään on vuorossa siniset joulukynnet. Koska lakkoja on rajoitetusti jäljellä, oli aika hankala keksiä mitään kivaa. Tää ei ehkä ole kaikkein jouluisin, mutta ainakin talvinen. 

When I was eyeing Blue Year's Eve it was obvious that I would use Lorelei's Tiara and silver for the look that was based on the Christmas tree ornaments we have. I started this look with two coats of Blue Year's Eve, then sponged some Lorelei's Tiara to the tips. After the polish was dry, I added scotch tape to the cuticle area to keep it clean and stamped half of the ornament pattern to create a half moon look. I also added light blue rhinestones to compliment the same color glitter of Lorelei's Tiara.

Kun silmäilin Blue Year's Eveä, oli jo aika selvää, että haluaisin yhdistää sen Lorelei's Tiaraan ja hopeaan. Mielessä taka-alalla kummitteli joulupallot, joita ripusteltiin eilen kuuseen.  Aloitin kahdella kerroksella Blue Year's Eveä ja töpöttelin Lorelei's Tiaraa kärkiin. Kun lakka oli kuivunut, lisäsin teipin palaset suojaamaan kynsinauhaa ja sormea, ja stamppasin kuvion puoliksi kynnelle jotta sain aikaiseksi half-moon tyylisen ratkaisun. Lisäsin vaaleansiniset strassit kuvion keskelle tuomaan yhdenmukaisuutta kärkien kanssa.

Kiinnostusta blogi-kirppikseen?

Ihanaa pimeää (joskin sateista) sunnuntaita kaikille! Joulun kunniaksi tein tuossa suursiivousta, joka ylsi myös Helmeriin asti. Pengoin lakkavarastoni läpi ja keräsin lattialle läjän lakkoja, jotka ovat muuten jääneet vähemmälle käytölle kokoelman kasvettua. Kaiken kaikkiaan lakkoja kertyi 35, osa on käynyt kynnellä kerran, osaa olen käyttänyt hieman enemmän.

Nyt siis heitänkin pallon teille, kiinnostaisiko teitä pieni lakkakirppis tässä jonakin päivänä? Itse olen pääasiassa töissä, joten kirppis jäisi viikonlopulle. Christmas Bells

Good morning! Today I'm showing you guys one of the more traditional Christmas manicures I've done so far. Red, green, gold... All the good stuff. ;) I made a promise in the beginning of December (when I ordered China Glaze's holiday collection) that I would use most of them before Christmas. I have a bad habit of buying gorgeous polishes, then forgetting to use them. I got a few from the Metro collection I haven't even introduced getting! I will do this after the Christmas when I show you guys my "xmas presents". Most of them bought by yours truly... ;)

Huomenta! Tänään näytän teille yhden perinteisimmistä lakkauksista, joita oon tähän mennessä tehnyt. Punainen, vihreä, kulta... Kaikki hyvät jutut yhdessä! Tein lupauksen joulukuun alussa, kun ostin Let It Snow kokoelman lakkoja, että käyttäisin niitä kaikkia jouluisissa lakkauksissa. Mulla on paha tapa ostaa kauniita lakkoja, jotka jäävät sitten laatikkoon. Mulla on jemmassa muutama Metro-kokoelman lakoista, joita en oo tainnu kertoa edes omistavani täällä blogissa. Hoidan sen alta pois heti joulun jälkeen, kun esittelen joulukuun ostokset/joululahjat. Suurimman osan kynsiin liittyvistä jutuista on tietenkin itsehankittuja. ;)

Now that the long intro is over, let's move on to today's nails! Last year I wasn't able to buy anything from the China Glaze's Chirstmas collection because I was out of money. I think I entered a dozen giveaways hoping to win Party Hearty but I didn't have any luck with that one! Of course the polish sold out on most of the etailers, so I was hugely disappointed... Last July I was browsing through eBay and found this polish for a ridiculously low price, I think it was under the typical China Glaze retailer price, so I was jumping out of joy. Yes, you heard me, I bought holiday polish in July! I wanted to use the polish in this year's manicures, so I combined it with three polishes from this year's collection. 

Siirrytäänpä sitten itse asiaan. Viime vuonna en pystynyt huonon rahatilanteen takia ostamaan yhtään lakkaa China Glazen silloisesta joulukokoelmasta. Taisin osallistua yli kymmeneen arvontaan toiveina voittaa Party Hearty, joka jäi tosi pahasti kaivertelemaan mieltä. Sitten kun mulla viimein löytyi rahaa, ko. lakka oli loppuunmyyty kaikista nettikaupoista. Viime heinäkuussa, kun selailin eBayta kyseinen lakka kuitenkin osui kohdalle. Lakka oli vielä yllättävän halpa, alle normaalin China Glazen myyntihinnan, joten totta kai siinä piti tehdä parit voitontanssit. Ja kyllä, ostin joululakkoja jo heinäkussa. ;) Halusin tietenkin käyttää tätä lakkaa tänä vuonna, joten yhdistin sen kolmeen lakkaan tämän vuoden kokoelmasta.

I used Poinsettia on all nails except the accent, of course, and sponged Party Hearty to the tips. On the ring finger, I added a coat of Champagne Bubbles, then topped it with two coats of Twinkle Lights. When I got to stamping, I got a painful reminder I don't have a golden foil suitable for stamping... So bronze it is! Luckily this didn't look as bad as I thought it would. I personally love this manicure! There's a huge chance I will redo this for Christmas day.

Käytin Poinsettiaa kaksi kerrosta joka kynnellä, paitsi tietenkin nimettömässä, ja töpöttelin Party Heartya kärkiin. Nimettömän lakkasin kerroksella Champagne Bubblesia, jonka päälle laitoin kaksi kerrosta Twinkle Lightsia. Kun aloitin leimauksen, sain taas katkeran muistutuksen ettei mulla oo kultaista foilia, ainoa vaihtoehto oli pronssi, koska en voi sietää hopean yhdistämistä kultaan... Onneks pronssi ei kuitenkaan näyttänyt niin pahalle kuin luulin. Rakastan näitä kynsiä, ja onkin aika todennäköistä, että teen tämän lakkauksen uusiksi joulupäiväksi.

Glittery red bling

Good morning! Today I have you guys a mani that took some time. I don't know what got into me when I decided I want to do a glitter gradient! I used three glitters on this look, then covered the whole thing with konading. Apparently the glitter wasn't smooth enough, so I have some bald spots on the design... Luckily this design forgives a lot.

Huomenta! Tänään näytän teille kynnet, joiden teko vei hieman aikaa. En tiiä mikä älynväläys mulle tuli, kun halusin tehdä glitter-liukuvärjäyksen. Käytin kolmea glitteriä, ja sitten iskin päälle konadoinnit. Valitettavasti glitter ei ollut tarpeeksi tasainen, jonka takia kuvioon tuli hieman kaljuja kohtia, mutta onneks tää kuva antaa aika paljon anteeksi.

Snowglobe

Good morning ladies. Today I have you this very very simple manicure which I loved a lot and which didn't, in my opinion, need anything extra. I sported this look a while back before the snow and surprisingly, I got some lovely comments for these looking so wintery! However, it's not without a flaw. As I often am, once again I got a bit hasty with the nails. The white polish I used for sponging felt completely dry to me when I started layering glitter on top but of course, it wasn't... This lead to some dragging which I was able to fix... However the tips of my nails looked a bit thick which is exaggerated by the macro. Luckily for me this wasn't as visible in person at it is in this photo. I so adore Snowglobe, it is such a beauty.

Huomenta ihanat. Tänään mulla on näyttää teille erittäin yksinkertainen lakkaus josta pidin tosi paljon, ja joka ei mun mielestä kaivannut mitään ylimääräistä. Pidin näitä n. viikko takaperin, jolloin maassa ei ollut tippaakaan lunta ja yllättäen sainkin näistä muutamia kommenttejä kuinka talvisille nämä näyttivät. Mutta tietenkin nää ei oo aivan täydelliset. Mulla on usein liian kiire kynsien kanssa ja niin kävi taas. Valkea lakka jota käytin töpöttelyyn tuntui kuivilta, kun aloin kerrostaa glitteriä päälle, mutta ei tietenkään ollut. Valkea lakka lähti siis glitter siveltimen mukaan, mutta sain sen kummiskin korjattua. Tästä huolimatta kynnet näytti aika paksuille, jota macro ihanasti liioitteli. Onneks tää ei ollut niin näkyvää luonnossa. Mä rakastan Snowglobea, tää on vaan niin kaunis.

Gingerbread men

There seems to be an unwritten tradition in Finland that means people do gingerbread cookies on the Independence Day. I don't recall ever having this tradition at home so I decided to have my very own tradition, every Independence Day after I get fed up with the flag designs, I shall make a gingerbread manicure!Luckily new Bundlemonster plates ran into my rescue with this adorable gingerbread man design. Are my nails simple? Sure they are. Are they lovely? Oh, definitely! I loved these nails and I got complimented on them... So the tradition was successful. :)

Monet ovat varmaan huomanneet, että itsenäisyyspäivä tuntuu olevan epävirallinen piparkakku-päivä. Vai onko tämä vain meillä päin? Tiistaina heti aamusta Facebookin seinä täyttyi leipovien ihmisten kommenteista, jauhot pöllysi ja piparit tuoksuivat. En kerta kaikkiaan muista, että meillä olisi ollut kotona tällaista perinnettä, saatan toki olla väärässäkin. Halusinpa siis tehdä oman perinteen, nimittäin itsenäisyyspäivän jälkeiset piparkakku-kynnet! Ihanat uudemmat Bundlemonster-laatat riensivät apuun piparkakku-ukon muodossa, joten sellaisia kynsillä nyt hyppii. Yksinkertaiset, mutta jumakekka, että mä rakastan näitä! Nää keräsivät myös paljon kehuja, ainakin koulun ruokalan keittäjiltä, jotka tarjoilivat glögiä ja piparkakkuja seuraavana päivänä. :)

Independence Day nails

Good morning! Today I'm showing you guys nails I sported yesterday. 6th of December is Finland's Independence Day and for a long while I battled whether or not to do nails suitable for this theme. Most of the day went by studying for the Swedish exam (I'm having it right now,  as this is timed ,eek) but I couldn't stop thinking of suitable manicure... So of course I had to do it.

Huomenta! Tänään näytän teille tuoreet kynnet eiliseltä. Alunpitäen mulla ei ollut pienintäkään tarkoitusta juhlistaa itsenäisyyspäivää lakkauksilla, sillä tarkoituksena oli lukea ruotsinkokeeseen (joka on käynnissä parhaillaan ajastuksen aikoihin). Aamupäivän jaksoin päntätä ihan hyvin ja sitten alkoi mielessä kummitella erilaiset variaatiot mitä kynsille voisi sinivalkoisena tehdä.

Imo, Finnish flag is quite... Boring. The colors are blue and white, just a blue cross on white base. I wanted to stay true to the flag so I kept the manicure simple, but added some bling on it to make it stand out a bit more. I think this came out classic and simple, suitable for the image of this country. :) And as a small, one-woman rebellion, I decided to wear this to the Swedish exam!

Ehkä oon paha ihminen, mutta mun mielestä suomenlippu nyt on vaan tylsä. Värit eivät anna paljon varaa (toisin kuin  esim. Iso-Britannian lippu), joten mulla oli hieman ongelmia sen suhteen. Tästä huolimatta halusin kunnioittaa lipun yksinkertaisuutta, joten pidin lakkauksen ihan yhtä yksinkertaisena, lisäsin ainoastaan vähän blingiä, jotta lakkauksessa on jotain mielenkiintoista. Tämä ei ole ehkä kekseliäin lakkaus, mutta klassisen kaunis ja mun mielestä tää nyt sopii kuvaamaan suomalaisuutta aika hyvin. :) Yhden naisen kapinana päätin myös mennä ruotsin kokeeseen näillä kynsillä!

Good morning! Let's continue with the christmassy manicures! I plan to do these for the remaining weeks before Christmas... We'll see what happens! This manicure is so out of my comfort zone. As I have mentioned a few times, I'm not a huge fan of gold. I don't own a single golden jewelry nor do I plan to, but lately I have noticed that few golden polishes have sneaked in my Helmer... Suspicious!

Huomenta! Tällä viikolla jatketaan jouluisten lakkauksien merkeissä. Mulla on kova aikomus postata tulevina viikkoina ainoastaan joulu-teemaan sopivia lakkauksia, mutta katsotaan miten tässä käy. :) Tää lakkaus on niin... ei-mua, aivan muuta kuin mitä tykkään tehdä. Niin kuin oon monesti sanonut, mä en vaan pidä kullasta. En omista yhtä ainutta kultaista korua eikä ole aikomuskaan, mutta viime aikoina Helmeriin on jotenkin näitä ilmestynyt... Epäilyttävää!

As gold is suitable for Christmas time, I went for it, no matter what. This manicure ended up being a PITA to make, I experienced some wrinkles for not letting the polish dry enough and so on. Also I had issues with the ruffian, so the lines are not as perfect as I wanted them to be. In total this manicure didn't stay on my nails more than an hour. Luckily I managed to take a photo of it before it got completely ruined. Like I said, gold and I don't go well together. I'll blame it on that. ;)

Koska kulta nyt vaan sattuu sopimaan jouluun, päätin nyt kokeilla sitä. Tästä lakkauksesta tuli mun henkilökohtainen helvetti, lakka meni ruttuun, kun en malttanut odottaa tarpeeksi kerroksien välillä jne. Lisäksi ruffianin linet meni kaikkialle muualle kuin minne ne piti mennä, joten... Meh. Kaiken kaikkiaan nämä lakkaukset pysyi kynsillä ehkä noin tunnin verran. Onneksi kerkesin kuitenkin ottaa tästä kuvan. Kulta ja mä ei vaan sovita yhteen, siinä se vika. ;)

Party time!

Good morning! Today I have you guys some nail art! ZOMG! Did you already forget I have a tendency to do my nails, not only use them for swatching? I know, I forgot it too. ;) I need to thank Marta from ChitChat Nails for this manicure. Few days back she posted a contest on her blog - she's looking for a perfect manicure to go with her dress she's wearing in a Christmas party and the dress was what she hoped people to use as an inspiration. As I haven't done anything special for a long long while, I took advantage of the contest and used it as an inspiration to create a manicure. Is the easier way to get back on the saddle than do a manicure with a certain theme? ;)

Huomenta! Tänään tapahtuu jotain jännää... Nimittäin koristeltu lakkaus! Siitä on vierähtänyt taas pieni tovi, kun tein mitään vastaavaa. Kiitos tästä kuuluu ChitChat Nailsin Martalle, jolla on blogissa meneillään kilpailu. Kilpailun tarkoituksena on löytää täydellinen lakkaus, jonka Marta voi tehdä itse pikkujouluja varten. Kilpailussa inspiraation lähteenä toimii mekko, jonka Marta aikoo juhliin ylleensä pukea. Koska en ole tehnyt koristeluja vähään aikaan, päätin ottaa kisasta kaiken irti ja käyttää sitä inspiraationa. Mikä olisikaan parempi tapa tehdä comeback lakkauksiin kuin ennalta määrätty teema? ;)

I spent one school day thinking what I want to do and how I want to do it. When I got home, I took out my China Glaze drawer and my nail wheels and started to paint the results of the brainstorming onto the wheel. The first one I made was the one I fell in love with and it is the one I posted to Marta as well.

Vietin yhden koulupäivän miettien mitä haluaisin tehdä ja kuinka. Kotiin palattuani nappasin China Glaze -laatikon sängylle ja pari nail wheeliä ja aloin siirtää aivoriihen tuloksia konkreettiseen muotoon. Tämä lakkaus oli ensimmäinen jota kokeilin ja se myös päätyi lähtemään Martalle.

For this manicure I used Millennium as a base, then covered it with a single coat of Some Like It Haute. After that, I sponged Millennium to the lower part of the nail to create a gradient. Then a layer of SV to smooth things out, then stamped on the dot pattern. Simple, fast and I'm in love with the look! I'm sporting this look for the 3rd day with no tipwear. I feel so reluctant to take this off at some point.

Tähän lakkaukseen käytin Millenniumia pohjalla, jonka kuorrutin Some Like It Hautella. Sen jälkeen töpöttelin Millenniumia kynsien juureen liukuvärjäystä varten. Pintaan kerros SV:tä ja sen kuivuttua yksinkertaisen kaunis kuvio stampattuna. Yksinkertaista, nopeaa ja rakastan tätä. Tää lakkaus on viihtynyt kynsillä kolmatta päivää ilman näkyvää kulumista. Mua oikeesti harmittaa, kun joudun ottamaan nämä pois.
