Good morning girls! Today I have you swatches of the three polishes I bought from Color Club's "Foiled" collection. As few of you asked, I also tested how these polishes work in stamping. I apologize before hand that the stamping photos aren't as great as they should be. So without further do, let's move on to the swatches!
Huomenta tyttöset. Tänään luvassa Color Clubin Foiled-kokoelmasta ostamani lakkat swatchattuina. Koska muutamat kyseli miten nämä lakat toimivat stamppaukseen, päätin kokeilla sitäkin ja lisätä kuvat tähän. Valitettavasti stamppauskuvat eivät onnistuneet niin kauhean hyvin, pahoittelut siis jo etukäteen. Sen kummemmitta puheitta, siirrytäänpä swatcheihin.

Pretty light purple foil. I'm really liking the color and how "in your face" the foil effect truly is. The application on first coat was a bit mehh, but the polish evened itself out on the 2nd coat.
Vaalean violettiin vivahtava foil.
As far as the stamping goes, this polish is a bit too sheer for it. It stamps quite nicely on lighter background but on black it's hard to see which is a shame... But as long as you're stamping on lighter colors, this will do okay job but it's not 100% opaque.
Mitä stamppaukseen tulee on Foil Me Once aivan liian haalea.

No nyt näyttää jo siltä miltä pitää! Tää on niin ihana. Melkein täydellinen jo ekalla kerroksella, mutta totta kai mun piti häslätä kaikkea, jonka vuoksi piti lisätä toinenkin kerros.
Now look at how insane this polish is when stamped on the white background! This one definitely works for all the lighter backgrounds, just like Foil Me Once. Black polish on the other hand was a bit disappointing but I was well expecting this kind of result when I tested Foil Me Once first. However, you might wanna consider getting this still!
Aaaa, voisiko valkoiselle pohjalle stamppaus olla enää kauniimpi? Tää lakka todella hyppää silmille myös stamppauksessa vaaleille pohjille. Musta taas...

What comes to stamping, I thought this would do just as amazing job as Hot Like Lava. Perhaps I scraped too much of the polish off but the result wasn't as opaque. I think this would look quite nice of blueish bases but that's about it, however, that is only my opinion about it. The black base test isn't anything surprising, the color doesn't really show.

As summary - I overall really like this polishes, on their own and as stamped on the lighter bases. On black base these are a bit see-through, but it also depends of the lighting a lot. The results of course depend on what color base you use, as black and white are both quite harsh. Imho, if you want opaque and more visible stamping, there are other metallics/foils that work better for it. :)
Have you bought any of these polishes yourself? Which ones are your favorites? :)
Oletko ostanut näitä lakkoja? Mitä ovat suosikkisi?

Ihanan värisiä :)
ReplyDeletethey all look very pretty, love the blue stamping on the black
ReplyDeleteLovin the blue one <3
ReplyDeleteI love the Foiled collection better for a base color rather than stamping. It definitely gets too sheer sometimes. I prefer the China Glaze Romantique collection for some chrome stamping. I've used it on several of my manicures and they rock. I wouldn't wear those as a base though, so getting both collections was necessary. (Sorry bank account!)
ReplyDeleteRose: Kiitos!
ReplyDeleteShannara: To me it's a bit too sheer, only shows well when a light hits it!
moonchild: Love it, too!
Nailed it.: Same here. I never really thought it'd transfer well in stamping as the foil really forms of silvery particles than true foil... If you know what I mean, lol. I got few of the Romantique collection as well as couple from the Khrome collection. They stamp so much better than these. So I agree with you completely!
LOVE! I can't get enough foils these days. Color Club really did a good job with their fall/winter lines this year (except the backstage one, I can't stand those chunky glitters). And thanks so much for showing how well they stamp! I was wondering about that. I love how they are a bit more sheer, I love how subtle they are over black. Now I for sure have to pick some up =)
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I wonder if it has something to do with the image plate or the stamper you used? I've seen stamping tests where the Foiled collection polishes worked really well, for example here: http://www.letthemhavepolish.com/2011/09/color-club-blue-topia-and-lumin-icecent.html
ReplyDeleteI've stamped only with Hot Like Lava myself so far but that one worked perfectly at least on top of Foil Me Once. Didn't try it on black yet.
Jacqui: I'm personally a fan of more traditional winter collections but I do love these, they bring a nice change and are a collection that one can use around the year which I like. :)
ReplyDeletePapu: Image plate is exactly the same as in the post you mentioned, so it's not about that. And my stamper has worked perfectly so far, so I wouldn't blame it either. To me the result looks a bit same as what I did, except the light is hitting directly to the stamping, unlike in mine. :)
I'm not saying these are bad for stamping, they are simply not what I was hoping for them to be as the texture of these are different than I thought. The result is there but it's not in your face like when you stamp with other metallics. Personally it's not my cup of tea.
I've my fingers crossed for hot like lava in my xmas stocking LOVE! thanks for showing what they look like stamped and the swatches :)
ReplyDeleteEleobel: Thank you! I sure hope Santa brings something nice to you - remember to be a good girl! :)
