Color Club: Beyond the Mistletoe swatches

Good morning! As I swatched Foiled collection yesterday, today we will focus on the glitters, also known as Beyond the Mistletoe. I only purchased the ones suitable for layering, so here you can see the swatches for both glitters on their own and layered on top of the polishes from the Foiled collection. So without further do, let's move on. :) As this post is a bit heavy, photos will be under the cut.

Huomenta! Eilen swatchasin kolme Foiled-kokoelman lakkaa ja tänään vuorossa on glitterit, jotka ovat Beyond the Mistletoe kokoelmasta. Ostin ainoastaan kolme, jotka sopivat kerrostettavaksi Foiled-lakkojen kanssa. Swatcheissa kuvat siis molemmista, glittereistä yksinään ja glitter-kuorrutuksista. Sen enemmittä höpinöittä, siirrytäänpäs eteenpäin. Koska tässä postauksessa kuvia riittää, ne löytyvät hypyn takaa.

Sugarplum Fairy

Sugarplum Fairy - 2 coats

I don't get the name... Sugarplums... Aren't they a bit darker than this? What I do get is that I'm obsessed with this glitter. I used the "wet pigment" technique on this polish, I applied one coat of glitter, then packed on the 2nd one dapping the glitter to the bald spots, then brushing over it once to make it smooth. This is two coats.

En ymmärrä tämän lakan nimeä yhtään. Jotenkin miellän sokeroidut luumut (jota nimellä ehkä ajataan takaa) huomattavasti tummemmiksi, joten glitterin holo ja vaaleus yllätti. Joka tapauksessa tämä lakka on aivan ihana! Käytin nk. "märkä pigmentti" tekniikkaa, jonka keksin tuossa yhtenä päivänä. Eli lakkasin yhden kerroksen glitteriä ja annoin sen kuivua pohjaksi. Sitten tuputin uuden kerroksen siveltimen kärjellä jäljelle jääneisiin tyhjiin kohtiin ja siloitin kerroksen siveltimen vedolla.

 

2 coats of Sugarplum Fairy over Foil Me Once

It looks gorgeous on itself, it looks gorgeous layered and I'm quite sure it will look gorgeous over everything. I can't wait to play around with this polish.

Tässäpä Sugarplum Fairy kerrostettuna Foil Me Oncen päälle, aivan ihana yhdistelmä ja kuinka tuo foil tulee esiin glitterin alta. Tämä näyttää varmasti upeelta muidenkin lakkojen päällä, en malta oottaa, että kerkeän kunnolla testailemaan tätä.

Candy Cane

Candy Cane - 3 coats

I don't really get this name... Again.I don't think this polish is so unique as Sugarplum Fairy but as a pink obsessed person, I do like it, it goes without saying. I did have so issues with trying to get this polish to work with me, apparently it was something it didn't want to do. At all. It required three coats to make it look decent and I still have some issues with the way it looks.

Jälleen kerran, en ymmärrä tätä nimeä. Sävynä tämä ei ole niin uniikki, mitä Sugarplum Fairy, mutta pinkki-nistinä tykkään tästä, luonnollisesti. Tämä lakka käyttäytyi kuin kiukutteleva pikku kakara eikä meinannut suostua yhteistyöhön. Tämän vuoksi jouduin käyttämään tätä kolme kerrosta saadakseni lopputuloksesta mahd. peittävän, mutta eihän tää täydellinen ole.

2 coats of Candy Cane over Hot Like Lava

 Here's how Candy Cane looks layered. I kinda like the look but I'm not 100% fan of it. I can honestly say that the glitter application kinda affected on my opion about this. I need try this again, maybe test it over different shades on pink to find my favorite.

En ole 100% ihastunut miltä Candy Cane näyttää kerrostettuna, mutta tulipahan kokeiltua. Aika varmasti tuo yksittäisen swatch-kuvan kanssa kikkailu vaikuttaa aika pitkälle mun mielipiteeseen tästä... Joten pitää kokeilla uudelleen myöhemmin ja etsiä se oikea pinkki tämän alle.

Jingle Jangle

Jingle Jangle - 2 coats

First of all... I love the name. Even though I don't particularly associate the name with the color, this one is the one I like the most. In my opinion, this was the easiest to apply and work with and it had the best coverage. perhaps it's the polish or maybe just my skills improved as this one was the last one I swatched. But I love it. Two coats.

Nimen suhteen tämä on pelkkää rakkautta. En ehkä ekana assosioi nimeä ja väriä toisiinsa, mutta tästä pidän eniten. Lakkaaminen oli helppoa ja tässä oli kolmikosta ehdottomasti parhain peittävyys. En tiiä oliko syypäänä lakan koostumus vai se, että aloin olla jo asennoitunut lakkaamaan glitterillä. Joka tapauksessa, rakastan.

2 coats of Jingle Jangle over Cold Metal

Come on people, look how gorgeous this combination is! This is the one I also shared on Twitter as I couldn't wait this long. I'm totally in love with this combination and how much depth Cold Metal gives to Jingle Jangle and vice versa. I must say... Swatching this sort of made me fall back in love with blue.

 AAAA! Kattokaa kuinka ihana tää on! Ihkutin tätä Twitterissäkin, kun en malttanut odottaa postaukseen asti. Rakastan tätä yhdistelmää ja kuinka paljon lakat antavat syvyyttä toisilleen. Rakastuin oikeasti näiden myötä uudelleen siniseen.

In general I must say I like the glitters I got. I'm still a bit iffy about Candy Cane but I think I will learn to love it at some point, sooner or later. :) As a basic thought... Like I said with Foiled, I miss the traditional holiday colors. Of course it's amazing to see these surprising collections buut... I'm a traditional girl. ;) Good point is that unlike many holiday collections, one can use these polishes around the year.


Loppukaneettina sanottakoon, että pidän kyllä lakoista jotka hommasin. Candy Cane on vielä vähän harkinnan alla tykkäänkö vai en,  mutta eiköhän se ihastus jossain vaiheessa herää. Beyond the Mistletoessa oli sama fiilis mitä Foiledissakin, mun tulee ikävä perinteisiä jouluvärejä. Onhan se hienoa, että näitäkin yllätyksellisiä kokoelmia tulee... Mutta nämä kyllä soveltuvat ympärivuotiseen käyttöön, ei vaan jouluun. Hyvä ja huono juttu, yhtä kaikki!
