Kleancolor swatches VI: in search of dupes

Hello girls! When I was swatching the Kleancolor polishes I got, I noticed some of them had similarities to other polishes I bought. As I mentioned those on the swatch posts, I thought it would be nice to show the polishes to you guys as well, side by side of course! Most of the polishes didn't end up being 100% dupes but few of them were quite close to another brand. I mostly compared Kleancolor to Models Own, as I know that polish is hard to get if you live in USA. So I do hope this is helpful! :)

Kleancolor Mocha vs Models Own Nude Beige
Let's start with Mocha and Nude Beige. As you can see, these polishes are quite similar to each other on the bottles. Mocha is a bit redder already in the bottle. And let's see how it turned out...

NB on pointer and ring - Mocha on middle and pinky
As you can see, the difference is obvious. Mocha is a lot redder in tone than NB, though neither of them are the "correct" nude for my skintone. Otherwise these two polishes are quite the same in texture, they both were a bit streaky on the first coat and two coats was needed for the full coverage. Shine factor is different story, NB is glossier than Mocha. For me they are different enough to earn their places in the Helmer. ;) However the hunt for the perfect nude still continues!

Kleancolor Fashionista - China Glaze Westside Warrior
Next polish I mentioned on swatches was China Glaze's Westside Warrior compared to Kleancolor's Fashionista. Both are murky greens but when compared side by side... They couldn't differ more. On the bottle photo the differences are already on display, Fashionista has a lot more yellow in it than WW.

Fashionista on pointer and ring, WW on middle and pinky
When I swatched these side by side I thought what the hell was I thinking... They are completely different! When having WW next to Fashionista, it seems to lose all the murkiness it has, it almost looks like Starboard instead! lol They are definitely not dupes but they do work on same level when added on the nails. Both required two coats and the texture in general was very similar. I prefer ChG's brush over Kleancolor, without a doubt. To me these polishes are definitely different enough, so I'm glad to own them both but not all ppl need more than one murky green. ;) I can't really say which one of these is my favorite as I like both of the colors a lot. So no recommendations this time!
Models Own Feeling Blue - Kleancolor Beach Blue
Next we have these two. Even on the bottles they look a bit different but I wanted to swatch these side by side anyway and compare the cremes and how they differ - if they differ at all.

Feeling Blue on pointer and ring - Beach Blue on middle and pinky
These two are quite far away frome ach other after all though the difference wasn't that great on the bottle photo. BB is a lot darker shade of blue than FB which is more pastel. :) The texture of the polishes was very alike though, both needed two coats. So definitely not dupes even though I thought they might be quite similar.
Models Own Green Flash - Kleancolor Jazz Olive
These looked pretty much same in the bottle but as you can see, Green Flash is a lot frostier than Jazz Olive. I was so scared these would be perfect dupes but look a them, they're not!

Green Flash on pointer/ring - Jazz Olive on middle/pinky
One polish hoarder is happy. ;) Jazz Olive, as you can see, is a yellower green than Green Flash. Also the frostiness gives GF a lot colder vibe to it. I know many would say "I'm happy with having one of them" but I'm not. Like anyone else would notice the difference if I wore these on different days. lol The texture of the polishes were so alike, though. I had them both floating on my cuticles as I didn't remember how thin they are! Both required two coats.

Models Own Blue Moon - Kleancolor Ocean Wave
Now that we got started with the frosties, let's move on to this pair. Unlike in the previous comparison, these two look a lot more similar on the bottles with no eye-catching shade difference in them...

Blue moon on pointer/ring - Ocean Wave on middle/pinky
The colors of Blue Moon and Ocean Wave are pretty much spot on. Like with the green frosties, Models Own one has a lot more of the frosty vibe in it, which gives it a bit lighter look. When I was watching the polish in motion when I figgled my fingers, it was very hard to see any differences in them though it's obvious on a still picture. I'm afraid I will give up on one of these polishes soon. They are not 100% dupes but close enough for me to own only one of them.

Oh my gosh, I just realised I do have another blue foil as well! So expect a revisit on this comparison soon!

Models Own Gun Grey - Kleancolor Charcoal
These two I thought would be a spot on dupe but as you can see... Gun Grey has more shimmery action going on than Charcoal. Also, even on the bottle picture Gun Grey looks a bit warmer.

Gun Grey on pointer/ring - Charcoal on middle/pinky
When doing a side-by-side swatch the bottle comparison really gets stronger. These are same level greys what comes to lightness but as I mentioned, Gun Grey is a shade or two wamer than Charcoal. Also the shimmer is a bit different on these. Gun Grey left some brush strokes visible, as in Charcoal applied on smoother. They both needed two coats to be opaque but Charcoal was closer to being one coater.

Essie Aruba Blue - Kleancolor Cobalt
Now these two look quite different on the bottle. Aruba Blue has more shimemr to it which makes it catch light on a different way. Other than that, the shade looks quite similar!

Aruba Blue on pointer/ring, Cobalt on middle/pinky
Without the caption, could you tell which one is which? When I started to swatch these, I was thinking "oh no, they are so different!" Aruba Blue is almost perfect with one coat, however it applied streaky so I added 2nd coat. Cobalt on the other hand is so thin on the first coat, I thought I'd have the first pair that would be completely opposite on opacity. What I love about Cobalt is that even though the first coat looks bad, two is all you need. The polish really steps up the game and is completely opaque on 2nd coat, just like Aruba Blue. There is a small hint of difference in these with Cobalt being a bit warmer blue. However it is a good option for Aruba Blue if you don't like the price of Essie.

So there you have it, the post that ends my long Kleancolor parade! A comparison post on the polishes I found to be close to each other, yet only one ended up being a 98% dupe.

What do you think? Were you surprised on any of these swatches and comparisons? :)

  2. Wow the last swatch they look identical?! Tbh with all of them you'd never know which is which. I LOVE Models Own so I'm a bit biased and would probably go with their one :) x

  3. Sanna: Kiitos! Palailen normaaliin tyyliin heti keskiviikkona, ei tarvitse enää pitkään odotella. :)

Kim: They are almost identical, yes! You're right that most of them are close enough to fool an eye, yet they are different enough to give me an excuse to have them all. ;) x
